General Questions

  • The charging station should only be cleaned with a dry cloth. Please do not use aggressive cleaning agents, wax or solvents. If necessary, you can wipe the cable with a damp terry towel.

  • The Ampure charging stations use a type 2 connector according to EN 62196-2. The type 2 connector complies with the European standard.

  • You can always charge one vehicle using a Ampure charging station. The Ampure Pure, the Ampure Next, Ampure Boost (cable variant) have a fixed cable with a type 2 plug. The Ampure Unite and Ampure Boost (shutter variant) have a charging socket (type 2) with shutter for the charging cable.

  • Basically, the variants differ in their charging capacity and the scope of the installation. In addition, different charging cables are fitted to the charging station, matched to the charging capacity. For the 22 kW variant, the installation requires higher fuse ratings and larger supply cable cross sections, among other things. There are also differences when it comes to the grid operators. Most grid operators only require notification of an 11 kW charging station, while a 22 kW charging station additionally requires approval. Variations in grid quality means that there are regional differences between the individual operators.

  • The Ampure charging stations are suitable for wall and stand mounting indoors and outdoors thanks to the high weather resistance (IP54 for Ampure Pure, Next, Unite and IP65 resp. IP55 for Ampure Boost). The charging station should not be installed in a place with direct sunlight, but rather in an area protected from the sun.

  • Should you not be able to book an installation through your sales partner, we offer you a network of highly skilled installation companies to ensure you receive the fastest possible service. Take advantage of our installer locator to contact your local installer. Your installer will then guide you through the process and provide a compatitive quotation for the unit and installation.

  • The important configuration details about your Ampure charging station are printed on the inside cover of your operating and installation instructions. In case you lost the document, please contact the support from your seller.

  • Settings can be conveniently changed via the Ampure Charger Setup App. Alternatively, there is an integrated configuration interface from available, which can be accessed via an IP address (LAN or WLAN hotspot).

  • Ampure chargers are by default configured to connect with the Ampure ChargeConnect backend. Nevertheless, the webasto charger itself requires a configuration via dip switches, integrated web-based configuration interface or Ampure Charger Setup app (the last two not applicable for Ampure Pure) in order to work properly.

  • In principle, all inverters are compatible with the Ampure Next and Unite charging stations that are compatible with the energy management systems approved for these charging stations. You can find a list of EMS systems here: Ampure Next, Ampure Unite

Wallboxes

Ampure Pure

  • Included in the scope of delivery of the Ampure Pure there are two small keys. With these universal keys, you can securely lock the charging station so that only you determine who is actually allowed to charge at your charging station. Turn the key clockwise to the "ON" position to activate your Ampure Pure for charging.

Ampure Next

  • Scan & Charge access control allows you to decide who is actually allowed to charge at your Ampure Next. The user of the charging station authenticates himself via Scan & Charge, where the user scans the QR code at the charging station with his Ampure ChargeConnect app, the wallbox recognizes the user authorization and the charging process starts. In the Ampure ChargeConnect app, any number of users can be registered and managed for a Ampure Next.

Please note: Scan & Charge works exclusively with the Ampure ChargeConnect App.

  • Two preconfigured QR codes are included in the scope of delivery of the Ampure Next. One should always be kept for safety's sake. In the event that the user needs to use the backup QR code, a copy should be made; this can be done at a print shop, for example. The content and creation of the QR code is described in the online manual.

  • A list of compatible Energy management systems is available here. A router or DHCP switch should be installed between the EMS and the wallbox. Energy management systems usually require an additional external meter; the compatible meters should be requested directly through the EMS provider. It is recommended to assign static IP addresses to the wallboxes via the router settings.

  • Yes, with a compatible external Energy Management System (Compatibility list EMS), the Ampure Next can charge PV surplus that supports this function.

  • No, automatic phase switching ist not possible.

  • A network connection is required for a complete and reasonable use of the Websato Next with all features. Otherwise charging is only possible without authentification ("free charging", i.e. no Scan & Charge). Especially in areas where wireless network connection is unstable, hurdled or technically not possible, e.g. in underground car parking areas, a wired connection is recommended.

  • The Ampure Next has integrated dynamic load management (stand-alone). Stand-alone means that the current available of the building is recorded via an external meter and sent to the wallbox. The wallbox ensures that the maximum available current of the building is not exceeded. In doing so, the Ampure Next dynamically adjusts its power. The Ampure Next cannot communicate directly with other Ampure Next charging stations.

  • In the scope of delivery, there is included the Ampure Next charger with a cable in defined length (4,5 or 7 meters), mounting equipment, drilling template and Quick Start Guide.

  • 6 Ampere

Ampure Live

  • The scope of delivery includes two so-called LiveAccess devices with which you can authenticate yourself via RFID technology to Ampure Live. This makes it possible to narrow down the group of users.

  • You can add further LiveAccess devices in the configuration interface of your Ampure Live to manage the access authorization of your wallbox.

  • In general, this is possible and useful. The photovoltaic system, however, must at least feature a communication interface or a switching output for this. You can ideally control your own consumption with intelligent controls via a Home Energy Management System (HEMS) or a communicating inverter with its own measurement data acquisition system.

  • Yes, thanks to the communication interface Modbus TCP, the Ampure Live can be integrated into an energy management system to control optimized power distribution. For example, you can charge your own electricity from the PV system to your electric vehicle.

  • The Ampure Live is compatible with the following Energy Management Systems: Beegy, Clemap, Kiwigrid, TQ, Smart1, Solarwatt and ChargePilot (The Mobility House).

  • Thanks to Ampure ChargeConnect, you have automatically free access to many backend functionalities. Always keep track of your Ampure Live, as you can access the current status of your charging stations, the entire charging history, your energy consumption, and much more at any time and from anywhere. Control you charging station via web-portal or app remotely.
Please note: Ampure ChargeConnect is only compatible with the following Ampure Live part numbers:
    5110360C, 5110361C, 5110263C, 5110359C

Additionally, you can link another backend to your charger, the following backends are tested with the Ampure Live and compatible via OCPP 1.6: Allego, Chargecloud, Cleanergy EV, Driivz, E-Flux, Everon, Greenflux, has.to.be, Last Mile Solutions, Mobility+, Optimile, SAP e-Mobility, Smartlab Ladenetz, Virta

  • You can use the Ampure Live connectivity with GSM, WiFi or LAN. Each Ampure Live device comes with a GSM module including a SIM card as standard. If you have sufficient network coverage at your installation location, you can automatically use the connectivity with GSM. If this is not possible, you can also use a connection via WiFi or LAN. You can connect to your WiFi yourself via the configuration interface. You can get assistance from your installation partner to connect to your personal LAN.

  • A SIM card is installed in the Ampure Live device. This is not tied to a specific operator. Instead, it automatically searches for the strongest network provider at your installation location.

Ampure Unite

  • With the Ampure Unite it is possible to authorize users to charge at the charging station. This can be done via RFID technology or via Ampure ChargeConnect. In that way it is also possible to report and analyse the charging data as charging sessions are assigned to user authorizing for that charging session.

  • Yes, it is possible to permantly lock the charging cable in the Ampure Unite via DIP-Switch setting or the configuration interface.

  • Yes, with a compatible external energy management system (EMS) (Compatibility list EMS) that supports this function, the Ampure Unite can charge PV surplus.

  • No, automatic phase switching ist not possible.

  • The Ampure Unite has integrated dynamic load management (stand-alone mode and cluster mode). Stand-alone means that the current available amperage of the building is recorded via an external meter and sent to the wallbox. The wallbox ensures that the maximum available amperage of the building is not exceeded. In doing so, the Ampure Unite dynamically adjusts its power. In cluster mode, the sampe principle applies, but one wallbox acts as a hub controlling up to 32 satellite wallboxes to ensure the maximum available amperage of the building is not exceeded by the cluster.

  • A network connection is required to use the full potential and all features of the Ampure Unite. If there is no network connection, it is possible to charge without authentification ("free charging") or with locally registered RFID authenticators. Especially in areas where wireless network connection is unstable, hurdled or technically not possible, e.g. in underground car parking areas, a wired connection is recommended. The Ampure Unite can buffer up to 1000 charging sessions, if the network connection is interrupted.

  • The scope of delivery of the Ampure Unite includes - besides the charging station as such - the following:

    • The mounting material, drilling template and installation instructions.
    • Two user RFID cards to start and stop charging operations.
    • One master RFID card to add or remove user RFID cards from the local RFID list.

It should be noted that the master RFID card is already preset to the wallbox. However, the two user cards still need to be configured via the Ampure ChargeConnect app. Detailed instructions for this can be found in the Ampure ChargeConnect operating instructions under "Authorization tags" in our download area.

  • The Eichrecht version of a charging station has a very accurate meter, which is a prerequisite for billing charging electricity in Germany and Austria. In Eichrecht, the complete charging station is approved and sealed as a unit, unlike MID, where only the measuring capsule as the meter is affected. For certification reasons, Vestel is the manufacturer on the nameplate of the Eichrecht version.

  • The scope of delivery of the Ampure Unite 4G does not include a SIM card. You need a micro SIM card (3FF). A simple data tariff (whether prepaid or postpaid, special tariff for M2M (Machine-to-Machine) or IoT (Internet of Things) is not required for the connection). An included data volume of at least 100 MB per month is recommended. Deploy the SIM according to the documentation. If the Ampure Unite is already connected, it can only be inserted by an electrician.

Installation

  • Ampure works with certified partners who have the professional prerequisites and experience to install charging infrastructure.

  • We point out that the installation may only be carried out by a qualified electrician and recommend our certified Ampure installers. An installation manual for the installer is enclosed with the delivery.

  • As part of a on-site analysis, an electrician who is specially trained and authorised in charging infrastructure will assess the conditions on site. Sometimes the entire power availability of the utility connection, the meter panel, the type of possible cabling and the desired location of the charging point are assessed to determine if a successful installation is feasible. Finally, and in addition to the on-site analysis, a cost estimate for the necessary work will be drawn up.

Accessories

  • The delivery package includes the stand, a cover, installation instructions and all needed mounting material.

  • The Ampure Stand offers burr-free holes to prevent damage to the cables. In addition, a high level of safety is achieved through the earth connection and high corrosion resistance.

  • All Ampure Stands are suitable for the Ampure Pure, Ampure Next and Ampure Live. The Ampure Boost and Ampure Unite can only be installed on the Ampure Stand Slim Solo and Ampure Stand Slim Duo (with corresponding mounting plate).

  • No, safety requirements mean that it is not permitted to use an adapter.

  • For charging stations with enclosed cable:

Only original Ampure spare parts may be fitted on Ampure charging stations. We would like to point out that a cable must always be replaced by a qualified electrician. In case you replace a Ampure cable with one from another manufacturer or it is not replaced by a qualified electrician, Ampure will not accept any liability for any resulting damage. In this case, warranty or guarantee claims cannot be asserted against Ampure.

    For Ampure Boost (cable variant):

The cable cannot be replaced as the charging cable is part of the charging station certified according to calibration law. If the charging cable is defective, the entire charging station must be replaced. Note: Any breach of the seal will result in the Eichrecht certification becoming invalid.

For Ampure Boost (shutter variant) and Ampure Unite:

Every standard compliant (IEC 62196-2) Mode 3 Type 2 charging cable can be used with the charging stations.
